Parental Anxiety

Nowadays, parental anxiety has been a big issue among parents. Being a parent to a child is not an easy task to handle. Along with it comes a big responsibility that oftentimes lead parents to be stressed and worried. Tuition fees, bills, children’s health are just few of the things that has been bothering parents of today’s generation. Parental understanding and management is of utmost importance not just in terms of family’s welfare but also in reducing the economic burden. These things can ultimately affect a parent in many ways.

Many psychological researches suggest special training workshops can teach parents deal with parental anxiety. Psychologists report that parental training can be an effective way to manage a child’s behavioral problems and seek to expand the strategy for the care of anxiety disorders. As parents play a vital in molding a child’s behavior and personality development, this can also lead to parental anxiety. Parents proper guidance over their children is an essential thing to consider in order for them to empower self-esteem and social dealings.

Anxiety is a normal human emotion that we all experience. But when panic and anxiety symptoms escalate into anxiety and panic attacks, it may be an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety and panic disorder. If the parent takes every fear expressed by the child as cause for concern, the fear is authenticated as real. It is important to note that comforting a child about every fear may plant the seed of another problem, that is, separation anxiety. Thus, they should also learn to balance between caring and overreacting.

Although, there are numerous excellent treatment for anxiety attacks as well as panic attack symptoms, it can be prevented among children if parents have been supportive of them althroughout their growing up years. But then, the burden in parents may also cause survey and parental anxiety.
